What are Biostimulants?
Biostimulants are natural compounds and microorganisms that stimulate biological processes in microbes, plants and soil.
Biostimulants are also used for nutrition when applied at heavier rates, e.g. fish and kelp. Working alongside Worm Brew, they optimise growth, nutrient uptake, and resilience to disease.
Why Use Biostimulants?
Biostimulants provide a wide range of soil and plant health benefits, including:
-
Enhanced Microbial Activity
Stimulates beneficial microbes for better nutrient cycling.
-
Nutrition
Contains essential nutrients and increases plant access to essential minerals.
-
Better Soil Structure
Boosts moisture retention and root development.
-
Stronger Plant Resilience
Helps crops withstand stress, disease, and extreme weather.
-
Reduced Input Dependency
Buffers and optimises fertiliser efficiency and outcomes.

How to Use Biostimulants
We often recommend applying biostimulants with Worm Brew at times of application. Combining the two is like putting the microbes out with a ‘packed-lunch’.
Important: Only mix Worm Brew with stimulants just before application—microbes multiply rapidly when exposed to the nutrients and will consume dissolved oxygen, which is needed to keep them dormant.
Can be applied through foliar sprays, soil drenches, or fertigation systems. They are compatible with most fertilisers and can be easily integrated into existing growing programs. Please call us for your specific program.
Recommended Application Rates:
For a biostimulant: 2L / 100L of Worm Brew
- Nutri-Sea Liquid Fish™
- SeaChange Liquid Kelp™
- NTS Liquid Humus™
- NTS Fast Fulvic™
For a nutrient application: Fish and Kelp is often used for their nutritional properties, these application rates are heavier than if using them as a biostimulant - get in touch with the team for recommendations.
