Improving Soil Biology & Crop Resilience on 8000H of cereal, legumes and canola with Worm Brew
Farm Overview
James' mixed farming operation in NSW spans 8,000 hectares, with 6,000 hectares dedicated to cereal, legume, and canola cropping, alongside 250 cows and 600 ewes.
Why Worm Brew?
The decision to use Worm Brew was driven by a focus on improving soil biology after completing courses on regenerative farming and discussing microbial solutions with the Worms Downunder team. The farm has been using Worm Brew for five years, consistently seeing the benefits in their cropping operations.
Application & Results
Worm Brew is applied as a seed dressing for cropping and through in-crop spraying. Since introducing it into their program, the farm has observed:
Stronger crop resilience against pests and diseases
Improved root exudates, supporting microbial activity and nutrient availability
Faster germination leading to improved crop stands
No additional inputs were used for cereal crops, while rhizobium peat was applied to legume crops to enhance nitrogen fixation.
Would They Recommend It?
